Sony has told owners of older models of its PlayStation 3 console to stop using the machine because of a problem with the PlayStation Network.
The problem is affecting people using the older versions of the PlayStation 3, called the "Fat" model.

"It so often happens that I receive mail - well-intended but totally useless - by amateur physicists who believe to have solved the world. They believe this, only because they understand totally nothing about the real way problems are solved in Modern Physics. If you really want to contribute to our theoretical understanding of physical laws - and it is an exciting experience if you succeed! - there are many things you need to know. First of all, be serious about it. All necessary science courses are taught at Universities, so, naturally, the first thing you should do is have yourself admitted at a University and absorb everything you can. But what if you are still young, at School, and before being admitted at a University, you have to endure the childish anecdotes that they call science there? What if you are older, and you are not at all looking forward to join those noisy crowds of young students ?"

Chromium Homepage
Chromium is a system for interactive rendering on clusters of graphics workstations. Various parallel rendering techniques such as sort-first and sort-last may be implemented with Chromium. Furthermore, Chromium allows filtering and manipulation of OpenGL command streams for non-invasive rendering algorithms.
Chromium runs on Microsoft Windows and several types of Unix such as Linux and IRIX.

Nasa has released the latest raw images of Saturn's moon Enceladus, from the Cassini spacecraft's extended mission to the planet and its satellites.
The images show the moon's rippling terrain in remarkable clarity.

Few days after the fact now, but:
It's been a long time in coming, but it's finally here! Don't let the version number fool you! The openSUSE 11.2 release features new and massively improved versions of Firefox, OpenOffice.org, GNOME, KDE, and more than 1,000 open source desktop applications. openSUSE also includes a full suite of server software and a rich selection of open source development tools.

Wonderful take on the Lonely Planet method of reporting on holiday destinations. For example:
"WHEN TO GO
The best time to travel to My Apartment is typically after most people in their twenties are already showered and dressed and at a job. Visits on Saturdays and Sundays before 2 P.M. are highly discouraged, and can result in lengthy delays at the border (see “Getting There and Away”)."
Well worth a read :)

An excerpt from the bug report:
... " went into the Password Manager to change the saved password option from Never to Always and that's when I saw all these other sites that had been selected as "Never Save
Password." Of course, those were sites I had never visited or could ever dream of visiting."
It's the comments on the bug that are _really_ worth reading, though...

Images of nice, potentially dangerous situations. Don't try these at home, kids. :) I particularly like the wistful look on the target practice guy's face...

"I've been a social worker for Children's Protective Services, a therapist on a psych ward, and I've worked as a case manager for a non-profit that shall remain nameless. I've had a number of clients over the years that I would now like to thank for helping me come to the realization that certain people are beyond help."
